Join us for a Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Research Grantee Final Progress Review Webinar featuring grant recipients awarded under the Request for Applications (RFA) Clean Air Research Centers (CLARCs).

STAR grantees and EPA scientists will discuss the results from their research on the health effects of multiple air pollutant mixtures and single pollutants considered as a component of mixtures. Over the past five years, these Centers have used a combination of epidemiology, toxicology, biostatistics, air quality modeling, and detailed measurements of levels of atmospheric pollutants. Among their research accomplishments, the centers contributed to improved understanding of the impacts of exposure to pollution from roadways (either while driving or while living nearby busy roads), of impacts varying across life stages and beyond cardiovascular health endpoints, and of susceptibility and interaction with metabolic disorders.

These EPA-funded grants and research support the goals of the Air, Climate and Energy (ACE) National Research Program, which aims to strengthen scientific understanding of the complex global change and air quality issues facing the planet today. The ACE research program provides the critical science supporting policy-based solutions that protect the quality of the air we breathe, and develops new tools to help citizens, communities and regulators combat air pollution.

The CLARCs Final Progress Review Meeting will be held in person from June 6-7, 2016, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. The first day of the meeting, June 6th, will be livestreamed as a webinar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via AdobeConnect. Further information, including a webinar link and call-in number, will be emailed to registrants a few days before the event. If you are interested in attending the meeting in person, contact Anna Fretheim (Fretheim.anna@epa.gov; 202-564-4286) for more information.
